Players of youth football club tone up their soccer skills. These rustic lads are all set to get special training to play soccer, as the youth Football Club, Rurka Kalan, has engaged two football professional coaches from Canada to sharpen the soccer skills of the budding players. The duo is imparting football techniques voluntarily through various sessions to more than 200 budding players of below 12 years, 14 & 16 years of age.

Originally from Scotland, coach Craig Smith presently residing in Canada, and Sanjeev Parmar, born & brought up in Vancouver, were daily spending six hours to impart soccer techniques to over 200 budding footballers of various age groups at Rurka Kalan village.

SCWC Volunteers visit YFC Rurka Kalan

Deeply touched by the performance and novelity of the organisation Youth Football Club Rurka Kalan the volunteers of Amos Trust UK which organized Street Child World Football Championship at Durban South Africa visted the club. Miss Harriet Rose Mason and Polly Lyall Grant who are volunteers with Amos Trust and were appointed liaison officers with Indian team are students of Cambridge University UK.

The delgation spent two days at Rurka Klaan . They visited all the club projects and interacted with the kids of the Academy. Harriet said that to see the kids at YFC has been an emotional experience ,the club is doing great missionary work by providing theses kids world class facilities and avenues to grow. Polly Grant was cimpressed with the level of participation and enthusiasm of kids.She said that ‘i am humbled by the whole experience”. The club President Mr Gurmangal Sony gave a note of thanks to the delegation .The delegation was honored by the club

NRIs donate bus for YFC Football Academy

The YFC Rurka Kalan’s endeavor to revive football in the region got a new boost as NRIs donated them a 30 seater bus. The help came from NRIs as they came to know about YFC’s work after it has won Street Child World Cup in Durban South Africa. Mr Harminderpal Singh owner of Carolina Rail Hawks Football Club, U.S.A. has given the major share. Village NRIs Balbir Singh Sandhu(UK), Baljit Singh Sandhu(USA), Kulwinder Sing Sandhu (USA)and Gurchetan Singh(Canada) also contributed handsomely for buying the bus. In a decent function Mr. Avinash Rai Khanna Member Parliament dedicated the bus to the players of the Academy. He lauded the efforts of YFC and announced a grant of Rs 2 Lacs for extension of the hostel facilities. Mr Gurmangal Dass Soni thanked all the dignataries and donors.

Under-16 footballer Jatinder Singh was elated when the All India Football Federation (AIFF) selected him as one of the 16 players to view the World Cup Football matches and attend a month-long camp at Johannesburg and Durban under the youth development programme.

The young player of Youth Football Club, Rurka Kalan, Jatinder, said that he had never thought that his spirit for football would give him the chance to watch international matches and meet sports stars.

This Malerkotla-based student of Class VIII of Government Senior Secondary School, Rurka Kalan, had participated in Deloitte Street Child World Cup held at Durban in South Africa recently. Presently, Jatinder has left for Johannesburg to become a spectator of FIFA World Cup 2010 matches.

Talking to HT, Jatinder said that he had attended two camps to get selected in the group of 16. The first camp was held at Goa where 100 players from across India had participated, out of which 30 had been chosen for the second camp. “I was overjoyed when AIFF informed that I was among the 16 players who will represent India and will play friendly matches in South Africa,” remarks Jatinder.

“It was my father’s dream that I become a good football player. Unfortunately, he died in a road accident two years back. However, it was a dream come true for him to see me associated with this under 16 team of India,” he added.

My mother, Sukhwinder Kaur, was very excited when she came to know about my selection, said Jatinder, adding that he will try his level best to prove his mettle in the game. “I have played matches against South Africa, Ukraine, England and Tanzania during the Street Child World Cup. The experience of the matches will help me during the upcoming friendly matches,” he added.

Director, Sports Punjab, Pargat Singh, appreciated the achievement of YFC Rurka Kalan. He said that Jatinder proved that the dedication, spirit and hard practice for any sports pays one day.

Jatinder selected for Indian Under-16 Squad

Congratulations to Jatinder. He has been selected for the Indian Under – 16 Squad. Jatinder was part of the Indian team from YFC Rurka Kalan that had won the Street Child World Cup (SCWC) 2010 in Durban, South Africa in March.

AFC President for professionalizing football in India

AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam has exhorted Indian club owners to come forward and take up the challenge of professionalising the game in the continent.

Speaking to the AFC Ad-hoc Committee for Indian Professional Football, Bin Hammam was forthright in his views, saying that AFC would go all out to help Indian clubs, provided the clubs themselves believed in change and its benefits.

Anwar donates Rs 2 Lakhs to YFC Rurka Kalan

Indian Football Team’s star defender visited his home YFC Rurka Kalan Academy after his team Dempo Sports Club won the I- League. Anwar spent time with the budding footballers of the academy and gave them technical tips . He also donated Rs 2 Lakhs for the Academy. He congratulated the team for winning the Street Child World Cup in Durban, South Africa. Anwar urged the young players to work hard and bring laurels to the country.
